What is a traction elevator?
Traction elevators are one of the most widely used types of elevators today. Compared to hydraulic elevators, traction elevators work by using a traction machine to drive steel ropes or belts and utilize counterweights to assist the vertical movement of the elevator car, resulting in a longer service life and higher safety. Currently, traction passenger elevators are the most widely used type of elevator globally. Their core working principle is based on the friction transmission mechanism in physics, and they mainly consist of a traction machine, control system, traction sheave, elevator car, counterweight, steel ropes, guide rails, and safety devices.

Yes, the elevator’s backup power will activate after a power outage, allowing it to take you to your designated floor.
The driving principles are different: hydraulic elevators rely on a hydraulic power source, while traction elevators primarily operate through the friction between the traction sheave and steel ropes. In terms of performance, traction elevators are stable, fast, and quiet, while hydraulic elevators are relatively noisy and slower.
